Purnell: Trump’s Voter Citizenship Order Doesn’t Violate Separation Of Powers

Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly’s argument in blocking an executive order that required proof of voter citizenship “is that this is a separation of powers issue,” said Federalist Elections Editor Elle Purnell on Newsmax. “But the thing to remember is that it’s already federal law, that it’s illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections. So what President Trump is doing here is not legislating, but he’s moving to enforce this law that’s already on the books, that Congress has already passed. And that’s what the judge doesn’t want him to do, because Democrats don’t really want these laws against noncitizens voting in our elections to be enforced.”
