“We should be clear, John Fetterman is by no standard a moderate. He voted ‘Hell no’ on the Big Beautiful Bill, he reintroduced the Billionaires Income Tax to tax unrealized gains, and he won’t support the SAVE America Act in its current form. So that is not a moderate by any means,” The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman said on Fox News at Night.
“The only reason he gets that moniker is because he supports the bare minimum that any politician should … He condemns political violence, he condemns the rhetoric that leads to it, and he supports a closed border. And I think the fact that that makes him a ‘moderate’ is indicative (1) that the Democratic Party has gone so far left … and (2) to Van Jones’ point, [Democrats] realize that that [the far-left] party brand is so politically toxic that they need a token ‘moderate’ like John Fetterman to bring those independents and to bring those on-the-fence Democrats back to the Democratic Party.”
