Lyman: Democrats Think Rural Voters As Stereotypes From Dukes Of Hazzard

“Nothing more explains Democrats’ disdain for rural voters than this type of comment [from a VA Democrat who said he understands rural America because he watched The Dukes of Hazzard]. But it also explains why [Democrats] are willing to gerrymander [rural] voters out of representation [in Virginia] because [Democrats] see [rural] voters as stereotypes and these caricatures instead of serious farmers and small business owners and communities that have different priorities and voices than Fairfax or Arlington,” The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman said on Fox and Friends Weekend. “So when you hear [these comments] –and I think for rural voters — this just reinforces that [rural voters] are not being fairly represented … because [Democrats] think of [rural voters] as unserious jokes.”
