Academy Awards history was made in 2020, with the first time a foreign-language film won the Oscar for Best Picture: ‘Parasite’ capped off a surprise sweep, winning four out of six nominations.
It is refreshing to see the Academy buck the outrage culture crying over “inequality,” and it is a delight to see films we all loved get recognition in a circle that seemed to have been shrinking around more unpopular films each year.

The spy film genre currently needs two things: a new James Bond, and an increase in clever female-driven spy films. These should be solved separately.
