More than six years after the corporate media’s Covid panic, it’s clear that The Federalist was right about pretty much everything, especially the fact that Dr. Anthony Fauci was corrupt and egotistical from day one.
The former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director’s diary entries, which Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., released ahead of the career bureaucrat’s expected testimony to Congress, only confirmed what many of us already knew — Fauci was more concerned with his TV time and the propaganda press’ fawning over him than saving lives.
“It is not hyperbole to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable persons in the world,” Fauci wrote in March 2020, shortly after sharing that day’s Covid death toll — 9,800.
One entry exposed in the diary document dump shows Fauci feeding his own pride by taking credit for convincing New York and California officials to close schools and shutter restaurants and bars. Two years later, Fauci publicly claimed during a media appearance that “I didn’t recommend locking anything down.”
Fauci also brags in multiple entries about forming “friendships” with known propagandists such as CNN’s Jake Tapper and using his proximity to the press to feed them his preferred questions.
Fauci’s diary entries might have caught some off guard, but not The Federalist. For the last six years, we, alongside a handful of others, have meticulously documented how Fauci’s rampant self-obsession cost Americans’ livelihoods.
Instead of relying on epidemiologists and experts for data and recommendations on how to address COVID-19, Fauci colluded with other unelected bureaucrats to nuke herd immunity strategies. He sidelined experts, such as those who signed the Great Barrington Declaration (GBD), for opposing widespread lockdowns. Fauci also lied about masking, flip-flopped on the importance of in-person schooling, changed his tune on a Covid jab to get credit for it, and pretended to Congress that dangerous experimental research on viruses like Covid didn’t exist.
In 2021, when corporate media and the government were still scheming to censor Americans for dissenting Covid opinions, including questioning whether the virus was leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), Fauci gladly partnered with Big Tech overlords to make it happen. He also worked overtime to dismiss the idea that U.S.-funded gain-of-function research in China could be linked to the virus’ creation and spread.
Fauci’s diary suggests he knew as early as January 2020 that the Wuhan wet market “was not the source [of Covid], it was the amplifier.” One month later, Fauci’s call with high level health officials and scientists similarly yielded little support for the idea that the global Covid outbreak occurred naturally. Even Fauci’s lackeys called the lab leak theory “highly likely” in private while penning “Proximal Origin” paper that bureaucrats like Fauci and the media used to publicly dismiss the idea.
Fauci also knew from a 2020 Federalist article forwarded to him by his then-Chief of Staff Greg Folkers that masking was ineffective. He proceeded to publish a “viewpoint” paper that claimed the nation’s “return to normalcy” was contingent upon the “widespread acceptance and adoption of mask wearing and other inexpensive and effective interventions as part of the COVID-19 prevention toolbox.”
By July 2021, Fauci was completely sold on downplaying the WIV’s role in the Covid outbreak and drumming up the need for lockdowns and masking. He claimed the FBI, which was “convinced that the origin of Covid-19 is from a laboratory leak,” had “no idea what they’re talking about.”
One month earlier, despite protesting for a year to media that the lab leak theory was a “circular argument,” Fauci told the “CBS This Morning” audience that he’s “always” been open to probability of a lab leak. He also suggested against all evidence that “it’s a bit of a distortion to say that we deliberately suppressed” theories that the virus was manmade or escaped from the WIV.
Fauci continued this schtick under oath. During a seven-hour deposition in December 2022, Fauci failed to recall pertinent information about his role in the federal government’s Covid weaponization at least 174 times.
This strategy was nothing short of personally enriching for Fauci. While regular Americans struggled to make ends meet and keep their small businesses afloat amid lockdowns, the bureaucrat made $1.7 million. By the end of 2021, Fauci was the highest paid federal employee.
Despite the savior imagery Fauci embraced, evidence overwhelmingly suggests he cared more about his TV appearances than saving lives. He always believed a global pandemic was okay as long as it meant his taxpayer-funded gain of function pet projects could continue.
The Federalist knew this and repeatedly raised questions about Fauci’s motivations and behavior. It didn’t take long for us to be one of the few outlets willing to admit that Fauci deserved to be fired, if not jailed.
When President Joe Biden tried to dismiss Fauci’s eligibility for accountability with a last-minute preemptive pardon that granted him more than a decade of immunity from federal prosecution, The Federalist pointed out that neither states nor Congress were compelled to let Fauci off the hook.
To this day, we are still paying the price for our courage during the Covid years. The Federalist’s initial pushback against the “two weeks to stop the spread” lie that gripped the government and media in March 2020 resulted in tremendous blowback and even a deplatforming attempt.
The censorship algorithms installed during the Covid panic have profoundly affected The Federalist’s social media reach. We even sued the State Department and other government officials for using its Global Engagement Center to suppress our accurate Covid-19 reporting, among other issues.
History proves The Federalist was right about Covid, about lockdowns, about the jab, and certainly about Fauci. Very early into the years-long Covid scandal, we identified Fauci as the face of America’s institutional decay. The publication of Fauci’s diary only confirms that.
