America’s propaganda media have spent an awful lot of time and resources probing President Trump’s renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. From on-the-ground segments with ABC hack Jonathan Karl to exposés on the pool’s duck users, the coverage of this non-story has been — to put it mildly — breathtakingly stupid.
As with any information cycle, corporate media’s decision about what is considered “newsworthy” isn’t based on whether or not it actually is. It’s based on whether it can be manipulated and used to attack Republicans and advance Democrat Party interests.
Which brings us to the latest elections out of New York.
By now, many Americans have probably seen headlines touting how several candidates backed by NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a radical Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) member, defeated several U.S. House incumbents in Tuesday’s Democrat primaries. These articles’ authors employed generalized language to characterize the upsets as a battle between the “progressive” and “establishment” wings of the party.
What much of this coverage lacks, however, is any deep dive into the insanely radical policy positions supported by the victor candidates.
In New York’s 13th Congressional District, Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier defeated incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat.
Avila Chevalier is of Dominican descent and a Muslim convert who has espoused support for “seiz[ing] the means of production,” defunding and abolishing the police, nationalizing major industries, “abolish[ing] the border,” and stopping deportations of illegal aliens. She’s also bragged about wiping her hands on an American flag after she “forgot to get napkins,” called for abolishing prisons and ICE, and claimed, “Israel doesn’t exist!”
Avila Chevalier was also reportedly involved in forming an anti-Israel Columbia University group that previously declared support for “the total eradication of Western civilization.”
Meanwhile, Mamdani-backed Brad Lander beat out Hunter Biden laptop truther Rep. Dan Goldman to secure the Democrat nomination for New York’s 10th Congressional District.
Similar to Avila Chevalier, Lander backs abolishing ICE and previously supported slashing the NYPD’s budget. He’s also accused Trump of engaging in “fascism” and has thrown his weight behind Democrat-led efforts to pack the Supreme Court.
DSA darling Claire Valdez — who won the nomination to succeed Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez — has also called for abolishing ICE, as well as investigating and prosecuting its agents. She’s furthermore thrown her support behind ending the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants, giving amnesty to illegal aliens, “demilitariz[ing] the border,” increasing the number of refugees brought into America, passing a “Green New Deal” and “Medicare for All,” and ensuring taxpayer-funded “trans” surgeries.
DSA candidates also saw success in state-level primaries. This includes the victory of now-Democrat state Senate candidate Aber Kawas, the daughter of Palestinian natives who previously downplayed the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States.
Yes, what these candidates support is extreme beyond measure. And yes, what they will do if given power will destroy what’s left of the American experiment.
But the reality is that your “truth-seeking” press doesn’t give one rip about any of it.
As previously alluded to, these self-aggrandized “defenders of democracy” don’t view it as their job to provide the public with accurate information about these candidates — no matter how radical their Marxist worldview or backgrounds are. They see their chief role as being the narrative-control arm of the Democrat Party.
Whatever web of deceit needs to be conjured up to benefit their political allies, the media are there to spin it.
Some outlets may give readers vague teasers about the New York DSA lineup’s policy agenda now while their victories remain hot. But the closer the country gets to Election Day, expect that low bar of “reporting” to vanish as quickly as it arrived. Because if the media believe whitewashing these candidates’ radicalism will bode well for their party, they will not hesitate to do so.
