According to President Joe Biden, no one is above the law — unless, of course, you are his son.
In a move that puts Gerald Ford’s forgiveness of Richard Nixon’s role in the Watergate scandal to shame, Joe announced on Sunday a sweeping presidential pardon that successfully exculpates Hunter Biden of several tax evasion and federal gun convictions mere weeks before his scheduled sentencing.
Joe and the White House spent much of the last year repeatedly insisting that the commander-in-chief would not grant Hunter a free pass for his alleged crimes. With only 50 days left in the Oval Office, however, Joe reneged on his pledge and used his executive power to categorically absolve his son of wrongdoing
Joe’s “full and unconditional” pardon doesn’t simply cover his son’s gun paperwork felonies, which he was convicted of in June. His official statement explicitly grants leniency to Hunter for any federal crime the younger Biden may have committed over the last decade.
Joe attempted to justify his decision by once again downplaying the nature of Hunter’s charges and convictions.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong,” Joe declared. “There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.”
He even had the gall to suggest that “It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”
Joe’s assertion that Hunter received unique treatment from the powers that be is correct, but not for the reasons the president listed.
Ever since Joe became vice president and then president, the bureaucracy has gone out of its way to handle Hunter and his criminality with kid gloves.
Hunter allegedly failed to pay over $1.4 million in taxes and lied about illicit drug use on the federal form required for gun purchases, facts that were widely reported and well known to federal investigators. Despite public knowledge of Hunter’s guns and tax crimes, however, U.S. Attorney David Weiss repeatedly delayed bringing charges against him.
When charges finally came to fruition, it was only to draw attention away from the Biden family’s overseas pay-to-play scheme and came with a carefully curated sweetheart plea deal. This scheme not only aimed to limit Hunter’s punishment to probation instead of the jail time that usually plagues Americans convicted of the same crimes, but also conveniently would have protected the president from scrutiny for his role in his family’s foreign corruption scheme.
Joe blamed “my political opponents in Congress” and the U.S. Department of Justice for the death of the deal he claimed would have made for “a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.” In reality, if it weren’t for the federal judge who saw through the Bidens’ political favoritism ploy, the careful collusion between the DOJ and other Biden allies, Hunter would have immunity for “any other federal crimes” he allegedly committed.
The plea deal scandal was only the tip of the benefits the Bidens, specifically Hunter, reaped from the nation’s two-tiered system of justice.
Whistleblowers revealed last year that the DOJ specifically choked an IRS investigation and subsequent charging recommendations for Hunter because they feared it would hurt Joe’s chances in the 2020 election. That same DOJ allowed the statute of limitations on Hunter’s alleged tax evasion in 2014 and 2015 to lapse and has yet to charge Hunter or his uncle for lying to Congress about Joe’s role in their international influence-peddling scheme.
The DOJ isn’t the only arm of the deep state that has bent the rules for the Bidens.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigated Hunter over a tribal bond scheme in 2016 but ultimately declined to charge him after he name-dropped his dad.
The FBI, similarly, did its best to hide and downplay a document detailing accusations that Biden fired a Ukrainian prosecutor tasked with investigating the energy company his son was a board member of in exchange for millions of dollars. That was in addition, of course, to several departments and agencies that deliberately covered up the damning evidence of Biden family corruption on Hunter Biden’s laptop by declaring it misinformation mere weeks before the 2020 election.
Even the Secret Service allegedly interfered on Hunter’s behalf when law enforcement opened an investigation into his gun, which went temporarily missing after his late brother’s wife and his then-lover tossed it in a grocery store trash in 2018.
In Hunter’s pardon, Biden lamented the various investigations and prosecutions of his son as “a miscarriage of justice.” The true miscarriage of justice, however, came years ago when deep state departments and agencies started working overtime to shield Hunter to protect Joe’s power.
At every turn, Hunter received preferential and posh treatment from not only his father, who has enabled his son’s criminal behavior for years, but also the bureaucrats tasked with investigating and prosecuting him. Joe’s pardon only further proves that Hunter was and always will be “treated differently.”
