Former President Donald Trump was indicted for the third time on Tuesday when Special Counsel Jack Smith unveiled charges ostensibly related to the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
According to Smith, Trump is guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy against rights, obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy to obstruct a proceeding, all for raising electoral objections that Democrats have made for decades.
As protesters breached the first police barriers at the Capitol, Trump was still speaking at the White House, with explicit directions for demonstrators to “peacefully and patriotically make [their] voices heard.” That timeline itself undermines the left-wing narrative that Trump alone incited a deadly insurrection.
Tapes published more than two years later by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson contradicted the hysterical talking points adopted by Democrats on the partisan Jan. 6 Committee. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi left Capitol security woefully unprepared. Protesters were given guided tours by Capitol Police. Brian Sicknick, the officer supposedly “slain” at the hands of violent demonstrators, was captured on camera “healthy and vigorous” after the time of an alleged fatal head injury. The footage, of course, wasn’t released until after Republicans reclaimed control of the lower chamber. Trump was the first outgoing president to be impeached and the only president to be impeached twice.

The failure of House Democrats to accomplish the top item on their policy agenda began a cascade of litigation to keep their No. 1 enemy from ever returning to the Oval Office. Trump’s latest indictment Tuesday now puts the former president under 78 charges with more on the way as prosecutors in Georgia wrap up yet another investigation against him.
Rivals to the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination have made a big deal about Trump’s campaign spending going almost exclusively to his own legal defense. A quick glance at the polling in the race, however, shows it’s not the other candidates Trump is competing with in the crowded contest. Trump is leading the rest of the field by more than 35 points. The former president’s primary competition isn’t Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, it’s the Department of Justice (DOJ), which is under none other than the Democrat sitting in the White House.
President Joe Biden has far more in common with Russian President Vladimir Putin than, say, a leader such as George Washington. Both Biden and his Russian counterpart’s chief political opponents face criminal prosecution despite the current leaders facing credible corruption allegations of their own.
The day before Trump’s latest indictment, former Biden family business partner Devon Archer told House lawmakers the president was put on the phone with foreign associates through his son Hunter. According to Archer, Hunter Biden would often dial in the former vice president on speakerphone, and did so more than 20 times. President Biden actually appears to have interacted with family clients countless times. The meetings contradict the president’s repeated claims of never talking business with his son “or with anyone else.”
Emails also reportedly show Hunter Biden telling Archer to buy a burner phone days before a meeting with then-Vice President Biden.
White House surrogates immediately began spinning the conversations between the Bidens and foreign business partners as typical discussions about the weather.
“He described what the weather was,” said Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., speaking with reporters. “It’s kind of a preposterous premise to think that a father should not say hello to people that the son is at dinner with, and that’s literally all the evidence is.”
Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes repeated the line on MSNBC.
“He was talking about the weather,” Himes said.
That sounds nice. Who doesn’t use a burner phone to call his parents on speaker alongside foreign oligarchs to talk about the rain?

Biden appears to be evading any true investigation by the corporate press or his own Justice Department for the moment. Even Senate Republicans have remained silent over mounting evidence showing the president engaged in global influence peddling with his son. One lawmaker’s outburst against a couple of teenagers earned more attention from GOP leadership in the upper chamber.
Trump, however, could have spent Jan. 6 actually talking about the weather, and he still would have been indicted.
