Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis eviscerated CBS for inventing a scandal about his state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan by omitting key parts of the Republican’s “60 Minutes” interview because “they can’t handle the truth.”
“They cut out everything that showed that their narrative was a piece of horse manure,” DeSantis said in a press conference on Tuesday. “These are smear merchants. That’s why nobody trusts corporate media. They are a disaster in what they’re doing.”
Fed up with months of false or negative coverage of his state, DeSantis called out the leftist media for their lies.
“They knew what they were doing was a lie. I knew what they were doing was a lie. Everybody here knows what they were doing, is a lie. They know that we know they’re lying and yet they continue to lie, and they lied and they lied and they lied,” he said.

While DeSantis said his office gave producers everything they needed to tell the truth, he said CBS “declined to interview the key people, because they didn’t want to let go of the narrative.”
“There’s gonna be consequences for that,” DeSantis warned, noting that the story was “total crock.”
“I know corporate media thinks that they can just run over people. You ain’t running over this governor. I’m punching back, and I’m going to continue to do it until the smear merchants are held accountable,” he said.
DeSantis said Florida was the first state to prioritize seniors in the COVID-19 vaccination process which resulted in more than three and a half million senior citizens “much less likely to be hospitalized for COVID than they were six months ago. The facts alone, however, the governor continued, just aren’t good enough for the corrupt corporate media.”
The governor said CBS “plowed ahead” with their story even though they were warned.
“They’re attacking Publix. You know it’s New York corporate media when you come to Florida and attack Publix,” he said. “It’s one of the most popular brands in the state. It would have been malpractice to cut Publix out of assisting.”
One of the most frustrating things about the intentional fake news, DeSantis told reporters, is that other corrupt news outlets don’t seem to care that CBS pushed a false narrative.
“Now see, all these corporate media people, they are all scratching each other’s back, so you know a lot of them just are pretending it didn’t happen, they’re not going to really police their own…” DeSantis said.
This blatant attack on DeSantis, Florida businesses, and Floridians, the governor said, should be a testament to how untrustworthy corporate media truly is.
“The message is for people out there is unless you’re a partisan leftist, do not trust corporate media. Can’t trust them, they’re not trustworthy. They will lie. They will smear, and then they just move on to the next target and think that they’re going to be able to get away with it,” DeSantis concluded.
“You ain’t getting away with it here, OK? You come down to our state and you try to smear people, you know, we’re going to bite back and we’re gonna hold you accountable. This is not over by any stretch of the imagination.”
