The 2026 midterm elections will come down to President Trump and his supporters versus everyone else who hates America and is willing to lose politically to the left.
The Democrats obviously hope to use the unpopularity of the Iran War and resulting higher fuel prices to leverage a sweeping victory. Since 2016 we’ve witnessed a decade of disqualifying animus against Trump, the only viable vehicle for conservative national policy accomplishments, openly displayed by prominent figures who claim to be conservative. We are now in yet another election cycle in which those cheering for Republican defeat are not confined to officially Democrat ranks.
‘Never Trump’ Still Fighting
Retiring Republican Sen. Tom Tillis, R-N.C., long hostile to Trump and personally mentored by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, recently publicly proclaimed his excitement over the prospect of Republicans losing the midterms. Republican Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, decisively lost his primary to Trump-endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Cornyn and former President George W. Bush raised money for Republicans who regularly vote with Democrats, but not Paxton.
Cornyn clashed with Trump frequently over Cornyn’s neoconservative stance on Russia, support for increased migration, and desire to maintain “politics as normal” against the Trump revolution. One of Cornyn’s longtime aides went to work for far-left Democrat candidate James Talarico in the Texas race. To them, it seems “principled conservatism” means enabling Democrats who support transgenderism, critical theory, and drag queens over Paxton, who has used the state’s power to fight transgenderism, fight mass censorship, and more.
These moves are hardly surprising, given Republican establishment senators have been resisting President Trump since he retook the White House. Republican senators such as Tillis, Cornyn, McConnell, R-Ky., John Curtis, R-Utah, and Bill Cassidy, R-La., constantly obstructed President Trump through blocking or slow-walking some of his best nominees, refusing to eliminate the filibuster to pass the SAVE Act, trying to end President Trump’s anti-weaponization fund, and more.
Allegedly conservative, anti-Trump commentators such as Erick Erickson have attacked Paxton in Texas and attempted to smear J.D. Vance and Trump-aligned political operators for “white nationalism, antisemitism, and even Nazi sympathies.” These anti-Trump “conservatives” engage in endless pearl-clutching about the rise of supposedly “far right” views among young men and those in the Trump administration. It’s not hard to discern most of these campaigns are a thinly veiled bid to prevent Vance from succeeding Trump and cementing Trump’s influence.
Vance represents the ascendant right-wing nationalism focused on border security, remigration, law and order, improving the economy for American workers, reshoring industry, eliminating or prudently revising foreign entanglements, and manfully resisting left-wing ideology. The geriatric Republican wing embodied by figures like Tillis, Cornyn, Erickson, and Bush is helping Republicans lose these midterms so they can turn the GOP back into a controlled opposition party supporting endless foreign wars, cheap labor, mass migration, anti-white racism, and political impotence.
Despite these anti-Trumpers railing against the radicalizing effects of online influencers, there is a symbiotic relationship between establishment Republicans who promote themselves as “principled conservatives” and online influencers who allegedly oppose them. They actually seem to be working toward the same goals — the defeat of Trump’s political movement.
‘Dissident Influencers’ Ironically Want the Same Thing
To use the most prominent example, Tucker Carlson has not only attacked the Trump administration over the Iran War, but has continually made statements he must know are false about the Trump administration’s stances and achievements. For example, Carlson has falsely claimed that Trump is doing nothing about anti-white discrimination, has abandoned immigration enforcement, and more.
By insisting he “would not vote for Mike Rogers at gunpoint” against Senate candidate Abdul el-Sayed in Michigan, Carlson effectively supports the radically left-wing, anti-white, and pro-Islamic candidate. This election is a binary choice, and you don’t have to love Rogers to see that trashing him helps Sayed. Is foreign influence only a threat when it comes from Israel? El-Sayed is a dual citizen (of Egypt) with familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and he supports flooding America with Muslim migrants and abolishing ICE.
Occasional honest criticism is not a problem. But a constant barrage of half-truths and algorithm-pumping hysteria is. Many influencers such as Alex Jones, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and Owen Shroyer have been effectively running a demoralization campaign that suppresses turnout among Trump voters. The only effect is to enable increasingly rabid Democrats. The Trump administration has an incentive to stack political wins and deliver for American citizens, while dissident influencers may grow their following if they keep insisting things are getting worse and everyone else (including Trump) is lying to them.
If such influencers were genuinely as right-wing or even libertarian as they claim, they should support the Trump administration as a stopgap measure that allows us breathing room to hold back the left-wing tyranny witnessed under Joe Biden and allows us to plan and strategize further viable political movements for liberty and good government. However, instead, they constantly discredit and criticize the Trump administration, which demoralizes Republican voters, decreases confidence, and saps the president’s political support to achieve meaningful reforms.
Those who use their political power, influence, money, and energy to help the left gain power should be treated as leftists. We should judge people by their function and the consequences of their deeds, regardless of what they say their motives are.
Trump Is Still Americans’ No. 1 Fighter
President Trump has been fighting harder than anyone for the MAGA agenda, while forces within the Republican Party have sought to resist and obstruct his efforts to deliver the results Americans voted for him to achieve. On the key issue of election integrity (which may well decide the midterm elections), Trump constantly urged Congress to pass the SAVE Act to permanently prevent voter fraud, but Republican senators resisted.
Similarly, the president issued executive orders for the U.S. Postal Service to regulate voting by mail, but lower courts and ultimately the majority-Republican-appointed Supreme Court quickly obstructed him. President Trump’s DOJ is still fighting for election integrity by prosecuting illegal voting and suing states like California that refuse to take any measures to curb voter fraud.
It is dishonest to claim President Trump is not seriously fighting the left when his administration has taken unprecedented actions to shut down left-wing terrorism. In merely the last few weeks, the Trump administration has charged Spygate ringmaster James Comey with leaking classified information, turned up the heat on Somali Rep. Ilhan Omar, arrested Virginia Democrat Louise Lucas for fraud, and charged two corrupt former FBI officials with lying to Congress. Much remains to be done, but an unceasing barrage of extraordinary actions is happening under the leadership of Trump and Vance.
Reasonable criticisms of policy choices such as the Iran War may be leveled against Trump, yet these pale in comparison to domestic policy efforts that rival any Republican president’s since at least Ronald Reagan, as well as in comparison to the threats to American liberties of Democrats regaining power.
The reality is that American politics is binary. Democrats pose an existential threat to America, yet after 10 years of endless GOP and influencer back-stabbing of MAGA voters, there’s still no shortage of internal “right-wing” sabotage.
The only alternative before us now is to support the most successful right-wing presidential administration in most Americans’ lifetimes. President Trump is the man in the arena, and he is fighting for his voters. Conservative voters should vote straight-ticket Republican in the midterms to reward all the good policies flowing from the Trump-Vance administration and to hold back the anti-American nightmare embodied by leftists like El-Sayed, Talarico, and Zohran Mamdani.
