Narcissistic “Covid czar” Dr. Anthony Fauci sounded more machine than man during his tense appearance Wednesday before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. With each “respectfully decline” — Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times — you could sense the blood boiling in committee chairman Rand Paul’s veins. The Kentucky Republican’s committee colleagues on the right appeared to grow more and more incensed.
Understandably so.
Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), spent the Covid years making love to his ego and the omnipresent cameras, his diary informs us. He was the “expert” who demanded Americans “follow the science” and then lied about the science. Again and again.
Fauci lied. People died.
Six years. For six long years Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, had waited for this moment. His chance to ask Fauci the question so many of his fellow Americans have wanted to ask. Moreno asked it. Profanely, but he asked it nonetheless.
“It was about six years ago today that I decided ‘I’m going to give up my businesses, sell them all, run for office, run for the United States Senate,’” the first-term senator told the old NIAID director, at one time the highest-paid employee in the federal government.
“Here I am sitting in front of you six years later saying, ‘Who the f–k do you think you were for doing that?’”
Tiffany Justice reveled in that moment, in that question.
“I think the senators were channeling the anger of the American people,” she told me Thursday in an interview on the Dan O’Donnell Show.
Fauci and his bureaucratic friends turned the Florida mother of four into a warrior for parental rights.
Justice, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, took her frustration over draconian Covid mitigation policies and transformed it into a national movement that had grown to more than 300 chapters with 130,000 members in 48 states by 2024 — just three years after launching.
“Six years ago Moms for Liberty was started because of the COVID lockdowns and the draconian mandates that were put on our children, and parents said, ‘We’re not having this. We raise our children, the government doesn’t,’” she said.
‘I Tell Him Yes’
In later winter 2020, the 44 “unusual” cases of pneumonia in Wuhan, China that Fauci noted in a Jan. 3 diary entry was exploding into a full-blown pandemic. Unelected public health officers began directing governors and school districts to close schools and roll out “remote learning” plans.
The lockdown era had begun.
Some six years later, the consequences of those sweeping decisions are stark — a generation of kids in so many ways left behind.
While Fauci has repeatedly denied he played a part in shutting down public schools, he sure sounded proud of his influence over decision makers in the pages of his diary.
March 9, 2020: Gov. Cuomo calls me up and asks my advice on whether to close schools in the orthodox Jewish section of Westchester where they have 90 cases (more than rest of NYC). I tell him yes. He also asks about closing subways. I tell him not yet, but let us stay tuned.
March 15, 2020 — I spoke with Bill de Blasio (Mayor – NYC) and convinced him based on what I was saying publicly and my conversation tonight to close the NYC schools (he had already decided based on what I was saying on TV). I went on to tell him he should close the bars and restaurants in NYC. He said that he would base this on my recommendation.
In the same journal entry Fauci wrote that he “had a similar call with Ann O’Leary, the COS of Gov. Gavin Newsom of California. Ann said that based on my TV appearances today and yesterday, the Governor has decided to close the schools in California as well as the bars and restaurants.” California and New York became strict adherents of follow-the-Fauci science. Their leftist leaders locked down anything and everything deemed “nonessential.”
By this time, Fauci was absolutely addicted to his newfound national celebrity, an adulation junkie. In his diary, the Covid Czar wrote, “When I left the WH and crossed Pennsylvania and 17th Street, several cars honked their horns and shouted ‘thank you’ out the window.”
A day later, Fauci told his diary that new Covid guidelines “reflected my pushing for a more aggressive mitigation 15 day strategy.” He was moving head-long into his “flatten the curve” maxim.
“If you are elderly, self-isolate; do not congregate in groups >10 people; stay away from bars, restaurants, theaters, sporting events; if a community has community spread CLOSE the bars, restaurants and places of congregation; close schools where there is community spread; no visitors to nursing homes; if family member is sick, others in family should take extra percautions [sic]; only necessary travel, telework as much as possible.”
‘They Have Thrown Everything at Us’
By April, some Americans — including respected members of the scientific community — were speaking out against the lockdowns, the loss of individual liberties, and the power grabs by government officials. The skeptical quickly became a nuisance to Fauci and friends. Not long after, questioning the “experts” led to a Big Tech/Big Government censorship campaign.
Moms for Liberty was a big target of central planning. Justice said members were harassed, threatened, spied on, and doxxed.
“They have thrown everything at us,” she said. “I’ve gotten death threats at home. The devil was writing me every week from Denver for a while.”
President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice went after dissenters, treating frustrated and concerned parents like terrorists.
“In one investigation, an FBI Field Office interviewed a mom for allegedly telling a local school board ‘we are coming for you.’ The complaint, which came into the FBI through the National Threat Operations Center snitch-line, alleged that the mom was a threat because she belonged to a ‘right wing mom’s group’ known as ‘Moms for Liberty’ and because she is a gun owner,’” asserts a 2022 report on the “Politicization of the FBI and Justice Department.” It was prepared by Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee and included whistleblower accounts.
“When an FBI agent interviewed the mom, she told the agent that she was upset about the school board’s mask mandates and that her statement was a warning that her organization would seek to replace the school board with new members through the electoral process,” the 1,050-page report states.
‘A Chance to Save This Country’
Justice remains hopeful that Fauci will ultimately be held accountable. She’s optimistic by nature, joking that she makes “Covid lemonade” every day. As strange as it may sound, Justice believes, in many ways, Covid was a “blessing.”
The pandemic opened a lot of eyes to what big government was doing to Americans and their rights. It forged an army of parents who got to see the curtain pulled back on their children’s DEI schools of indoctrination. It forced moms and dads to stand up and speak out for their children and for their country. It woke a lot of people up to the abuses of the Covid Czar and his battalion of “experts” who used the pandemic to pursue political ends.
“Covid, I believe, gave us a chance to save this country and we’re not going to waste a minute,” Justice said.
