The White House attempted to cover for 10 different mistakes by President Joe Biden during a single campaign speech to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, in Detroit this week.
An official White House transcript of the remarks shows numerous examples of Biden’s words and phrases being retracted and replaced with corrected spellings and facts.
When referencing his tenure as vice president under President Obama, Biden said, “Things were kind of bad during the pandemic,” but the Covid panic didn’t begin in the United States until 2020, long after Biden’s vice presidency. Biden’s handlers crossed out the word “pandemic” and replaced it with “recession” in the official transcript. That was just the tip of the iceberg.
Biden also said, “We’re cracking down on corporate landlords who [to] keep rents down,” according to the transcript, showing the White House further amended his comments.
Biden erred in pronouncing several words too, probably confusing his audience about what he was trying to say until the White House corrected the record. In the transcript, it changed Biden’s neologism “inspiresing” to say “inspiring” and “irrectionists” to say “insurrectionists.”
In another incident, the White House did not remove words but instead attempted to add clarity to Biden’s remarks. The transcript reads, “Folks, I have a better ti- — [idea]. I’ll protect it — Medicare and Social Security — by making the very wealthy finally begin to pay their fair share.”
One mistake was an egregious misquote of former President Donald Trump that totally changed his meaning. Biden said, “Donald Trump has said, if he loses again in November, there will be, quote, “bloodshed” [“bloodbath”]. What in God’s name are we talking about here? This is the United States of America.” It was already dishonest when Democrat media disingenuously freaked out about Trump saying “bloodbath” in March in reference to Biden’s destructive policies — even though the word is commonly used metaphorically in politics and sports to describe disasters or blowouts, as The Federalist’s David Harsanyi noted at the time. But misquoting the word as “bloodshed” implies that Trump threatened actual death if he doesn’t win the election.
Also in reference to Donald Trump, Biden said, “He brags about getting Roe v. Wade overturned. He not only denies reproductive freedom but worsens the mortality rate for Black moms, who have [are] nearly three times more likely to die from pregnancy complications than a white woman.” The White House once again used the official transcript to clean up for the president.
When explaining his administration’s defense of Obamacare, Biden stumbled through his sentence, saying, “I protected and expanded the Affordable Care Act, saving millions of families $800,000 in prem- — $8,000 [$800] in — a year in premiums.” The transcript edits show the White House attempting to fact-check Biden’s remarks on health insurance costs to reflect reality.
The event included honoring Biden with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” — but he couldn’t even say the name of the organization presenting him with it, incorrectly calling the NAACP the “NAAC.” Then after referring to himself as a “lifetime member of the NAACP,” Biden erred again, saying he is “humbled to receive this organization [award].”
Biden’s speech began with him saying, “I don’t feel tired. I feel inspired” — but his 10 mistakes say otherwise.
In fact, Biden has made “148 mistakes in public remarks so far this year,” according to the New York Post in April.
Biden’s lies, mistakes, and inaccuracies in front of the left-wing National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, which has long worked to get out the vote, comes as his campaign struggles to sure up support among black voters, who are typically a reliable Democrat voting block.
