On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, actor, singer, and director Robert Davi joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss his upcoming film about the Biden family “My Son Hunter,” and the left’s grip on the evolution of Hollywood.
“Hollywood has done so many films about the blacklist. Yet the blacklist for conservatives, through social media, it seems to be okay. That is confusing,” Davi said. “It has never been straightened up. That’s why, to me, a film like ‘My Son Hunter’ is important.”
Hollywood may be dominated by leftist ideology and agendas, but Davi said conservatives can’t keep ignoring its influence.
“You have these great celebrities that young kids are interested in. They capture their imagination. Here’s what’s wrong with conservatives: nobody cares what a celebrity thinks. B.S. What that’s saying is I haven’t been invited to the dance, so I’m not going to think about it. It is important because, not for you perhaps, but for your children,” Davi said.
“I remember as a kid, when Frank Sinatra would come on the ‘Tonight Show,’ and there would be a political discussion, I was hoping that what they were going to say was going to reiterate what I was feeling. It gave a strange validation.”
Davi noted the need for more conservatives in entertainment to come out of the woodwork, before their thought diversity will be represented in Hollywood. “I’ve asked Norman Lear and Clint Eastwood to get together and talk about what’s going on in Hollywood together, two elder statesman, two men I respect, of differing points of view, except for their love of America. Now, why isn’t that being done? People don’t want solutions.”
