Rapper Lil Nas X, who is most well-known for his hit “Old Town Road” in 2019, angered many fans after announcing he will release 666 “limited edition Satan shoes.” Former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is projected to be a top pick in the NFL Draft this Sunday, criticized the shoes on Twitter.

“Line has to be drawn somewhere,” Lawrence said. “Smh [Shaking my head’].”

Priced a little over $1,000, the devil-themed shoes were announced after Lil Nas X also released a song called “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” In the music video for the new song, 21-year-old Montero Lamar Hill has sex with Satan and dances casually.

The shoes will cost $1,018, a nod to the Bible passage Luke 10:18 which says, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” 666 pairs will be released of the limited-edition sneaker, the “number of the beast” as explicated in chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation.

Lawrence, the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2020, told TMZ in 2019 that spending time at the White House with then-President Trump after Clemson won the national championship was “awesome.”

“We had McDonald’s and everything. It was good!” Lawrence said.

This summer, it was reported that Lawrence called Trump several times as part of the “We Want To Play” college football movement. Clemson administrators provided the president’s number to Lawrence.

“I spoke to some of the great football players, college players, Trevor and a lot of great players called,” Trump told reporters.

Lil Nas X doubled-down on his disturbing new sneaker release on Sunday, writing, “I literally sing about lean & adultery in old town road. u decided to let your child listen. blame yourself.”’
