Federalist Senior Correspondent John Daniel Davidson visited the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas, to report on the current national emergency.
In a special mini episode of the Federalist Radio Hour, Davidson shares his interviews with border patrol agents on why a wall alone will not be able to stop determined migrant families, or the cartels who profit from smuggling them across the border.
“According to federal law, suffering, poverty, and violence doesn’t necessarily qualify a person for asylum,” he said. “In fact, most of the Central American families now coming across the Southern border do not fit the government’s definition of a refugee, and most will not qualify for asylum.”
