Anthony Scaramucci has been dismissed from his role as White House communications director just a week after arriving in the West Wing, The New York Times reports.

President Trump dismissed Scaramucci at the request of incoming White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who was sworn into office this morning, Fox News reports. The TV network also reported that Scaramucci will return to his previous role at the Export-Import Bank.

Scaramucci’s dismissal comes on the heels of his profanity-laced rant published in The New Yorker last week, in which he unloaded on former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus just a day before the former Republican Party chairman was dismissed.

“Mr. Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team,” the White House said in a statement shortly after the news broke.
