The City University of New York has banned staff from referring to students as “Mr.,” “Mrs.,” or “Ms.,” calling this act of politeness sex discrimination.
For all my marriage has given me, all it has allowed me to be and to experience, there is no title to recognize that. It’s just ‘mister,’ for every man.
Don’t turn a personal preference into an iron-clad rule. Mrs. is not a perfect name for all women, even married ones.
A Mrs. by any other name simply doesn’t smell as sweet.
