Eric Wearne is an associate professor with the Education Economics Center at Kennesaw State University, and is the author of “Little Platoons: Defining Hybrid Home Schools in America,” forthcoming from Lexington Books.
These trying times are an ideal opportunity for more conventional public and private schools to implement hybrid homeschools in their communities as a model to better serve students and families.
For two or three days per week, students come together to a building, attend classes with regular teachers, and have classmates. The rest of the week, the students work on their own at home.
