On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt joined host Ben Domenech to discuss the recent demands for the destruction of Mount Rushmore National Memorial and his goals for ensuring all Americans can enjoy it and all other federal monuments.

Bernhardt said that the ability to visit national monuments is irreplaceable, and he believes most Americans agree that they have beauty and purpose. Therefore, he said, he is always working to ensure that monuments are protected and accessible to everyone.

“I believe that the vast majority of America draws solace, draws inspiration, and draws rejuvenation from these great works of art,” Bernhardt said. “If you have ever been to the Jefferson Memorial, or the Lincoln Memorial, and you walk into these facilities, there is no way to leave without thinking ‘what incredible individuals, and what incredible leaders we’ve had throughout our nation’s history.'”
