Audrey Gelman, co-founder and CEO of The Wing, “a growing community of women across the country and globe, gathering together to work, connect, and thrive,” sent in her resignation after a group of employees staged a digital walkout regarding the company’s lack of implementation of their policies promoting feminism and race solidarity.
“This decision is the right thing for the business, and the best way to bring The Wing along into a long overdue era of change,” Gelman said in her resignation email.
The Wing’s brand director, Alex Covington, however, claimed that Audrey Gelman’s resignation “is not enough,” and organized the walkout on the grounds that “The Wing doesn’t practice the intersectional feminism that it preaches.”

According to Business Insider, employees who participated in the walkout claim that The Wing’s leaders “have disproportionately failed and continue to fail people of color at The Wing.”
In addition to the walkout, employees also brought a private list of demands forward to the company in the form of a petition with hopes to see reform and change.
“We are frustrated and saddened by the incompetence and lack of accountability demonstrated time and time again by The Wing’s leadership,” the employees said. “The public perception of The Wing is at an all-time low — and rightfully so.“
