In response to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis sending 50 illegal aliens from Florida to affluent Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, the same leftists who tripped over themselves to brag about providing “sanctuary cities” to illegal immigrants are now having a meltdown about a few new, diverse faces on their own doorsteps.
The largely leftist denizens of Martha’s Vinyard shamed conservative Texas border towns for daring to say they’re overwhelmed by the wave of crime, drugs, and resource drain that illegal immigrants brought. So surely a few dozen extra people won’t be too much of a strain on the Massachusetts island that sees its population grow by 750 percent during peak tourism season.
But just in case the left-wing locals don’t know what to do with their new neighbors, here are 12 beautiful estates on the island with plenty of room for the local community to benevolently offer to their newest residents.
1. The Park Estate
The Park Estate is a lovely, 7,000-square-foot mansion on five acres. At a breezy $20,000 per night, it’s even available this weekend! (Availability doesn’t really matter, though, because if Democracy itself is at stake, I’m sure any currently booked tenants would be happy to give up their vacation bookings– or just bunk up with some new friends!)
2. The Captain’s Mansion
Running from $1,600 to $6,800 per night, this picturesque property “features 26 rooms with 12 bedrooms, 7 baths, two full kitchens, two dining rooms, and two living rooms.” It sleeps 26 people, or more than half of the migrants flown in from Florida. Built in 1840 by a whaling captain, the estate even comes with complimentary bicycles and lawn games.
3. The Dexter House
Right on the harbor, the Dexter House is a converted boathouse that was featured in Architectural Digest. It’s a bit smaller, at only 2,312 square feet, but for only a few grand per night it can welcome eight of Martha’s Vineyard’s newest residents.
4. Luxury Edgartown Village Compound
I know the word “compound” sounds like something that would make AOC cry, but trust me, this one is nice! (It’s also available this week.) It ranges from $6,400 a night to a mere $2,000, depending on the time of year. It sleeps 14, and even comes with a heated pool, plenty of lounge chairs, and a guest house. What a welcoming environment for the world’s poor yearning to breathe free! Finding such a hospitable environment, migrants would certainly invite their friends.
5. The Carousel House
Built in 1865, this 3,000-square-foot stunner was featured in The New York Times. The Victorian home boasts room for 12 and even includes a wine fridge. It’s a bargain option at only $1,375 a night!
6. Luxury Vineyard Retreat
At $8,000 per night, this recently renovated, 5,500-square-foot property hosts 15. It sits on three acres and comes with a saltwater pool and spa, and has access to community tennis courts too.
7. Grand Coastal-Style Estate
Here’s a steal, in case the locals are feeling budget conscious — only $1,785 per night for this 5,423-square-foot charmer! “The interior architecture and design was overseen by noted Vineyard architect Chuck Sullivan,” you should note. It’s also “quietly tucked away in The Preserve, the desirable new enclave buffered by conservation land,” in case the local liberals don’t want to be bothered by their new 50-person “humanitarian crisis.”
8. Private Peninsular Compound
For roughly $4,000 per night, there’s this “Private Compound” at the tip of a “5.5 acre Peninsula jutting into [the] middle of Cape Poge Bay.” It sleeps 14 and includes 1,750 feet of private beach, 360-degree views, and even a personal sailboat.
9. Field Club Compound
With a hot tub built inside a pool, a carriage house, and a portico, this listing has room for 10 and is available later this month for only $3,571 a night.
10. Edgartown Waterfront
Martha’s Vineyard residents can put their new neighbors up at this lovely waterfront home for only $10,000 per night next week. It sleeps 16, and has a private dock “for travelers to bring their up to 50 ft boat” — it’s like the property description was written just for those who just finished the long voyage to America’s border.
11. Private Edgartown Estate
This seven-acre estate boasts a heated pool, half basketball court, and a koi pond. It can sleep 16 — more than a quarter of Martha’s Vineyard’s new arrivals — for only three grand per night!
12. Waterfront Compound
Available this weekend for a cool $8,000 per night, this 12-person rental includes a tennis court — er, tennis house, excuse me — a pool house, a hot tub, and a third of a mile of private ocean beach.
