Breaking News Alert Georgia House Guts Bill That Would Have Given Election Board Power To Investigate Secretary Of State

Everyone Knows The Southern Border Is Worse Under Biden Than Trump, But Karine Jean-Pierre Is Lying Anyway

‘The state of the border under the current administration is the worst I have seen in over 20 years.’

It’s no secret that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is notoriously bad at her job. But her latest comments about the Biden administration’s failure to secure the U.S. southern border are so beyond parody that they’d give the impression that Tuesday was Opposite Day at the White House.

While speaking to reporters at a press briefing, Jean-Pierre laughably claimed the Biden administration is “doing a lot more [than former President Donald Trump] to secure the border and could be doing even more if Republicans would stop their obstruction.”

The Trump administration “largely just tried to build a wall … and couldn’t even finish that in four years,” she added.

The notion that Biden has done more to secure the U.S. southern border than his predecessor is such a far-fetched lie that not even Jean-Pierre herself could earnestly believe it. Since taking office in January 2021, Joe Biden has done just about everything you can think of to make it easier for illegal immigrants to unlawfully enter the United States through the U.S.-Mexico border.

As reported by Federalist Staff Writer Jordan Boyd, “[w]hen Biden assumed office, he moved to eradicate many of the Trump administration’s border security policies such as the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy which required asylum seekers to await court decisions in Mexico, and immediately halted construction on the border wall.”

Earlier this year, Biden also sought to end Title 42, “a policy designed to expedite the expulsion of illegal border crossers during the Covid-19 pandemic, and which border agencies were barely enforcing anyway.”

As a result of the Biden administration’s intentional dismantling of U.S. immigration policy, illegal crossings along the southern border have skyrocketed to unprecedented levels. In the 2021 fiscal year, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) “recorded a total of 1.72 million enforcement encounters,” which included “146,054 encounters of unaccompanied children, 478,492 encounters of individuals in family units, and 1,098,500 encounters of single adults.”

Despite the massive increase in border crossings, the Biden administration has largely refused to prosecute migrants for violating U.S. immigration laws, with The Washington Free Beacon reporting a “nearly 80 percent” decrease in FY2021.

“Just 2,896 migrants apprehended on the southwest border were transferred into U.S. Marshals Service custody in the 2021 fiscal year,” the Free Beacon reported. “In the 2020 fiscal year, 13,213 migrants were transferred to federal authorities for prosecution.”

Think things couldn’t get any worse? Guess again. In June 2022 alone, “207,416 [illegal immigrants] were arrested trying to illegally cross the border,” making the month’s tally “the highest number ever recorded in June since … U.S. Customs and Border Protection began tracking apprehensions.”

Over the past two years combined, CBP has “apprehended 81 known and suspected terrorists illegally crossing our southern border,” with an additional 900,000 “gotaways” having “successfully evaded the Border Patrol” during that same time frame.

At their current rate, 2022 border crossings have already surpassed 2021 levels and are on track to eclipse 2 million for the first time ever.

In addition to illegal immigration, CBP drug seizures have also dramatically risen since Biden took office. In FY2021, CBP apprehended approximately “624,500 pounds of drugs,” with seizures of cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl increasing 68 percent, 7 percent, and 134 percent, respectively (heroin seizures dropped a slight 6 percent).

While Jean-Pierre insists that Biden’s administration is doing more to secure the southern border than Trump’s, CBP officials on the ground in U.S. border states disagree, with one agent telling Town Hall “I have been working for the United States Border Patrol under four administrations” and “I have never before seen the border this bad.”

“The amount of illegal entries is at an all-time high, Border Patrol’s morale is the worst I have ever seen under President Biden,” the agent said.

Fellow agent and spokesman for the National Border Patrol Council Chris Cabrera made similar remarks, saying that he thinks it’s “obvious that the current administration has done nothing to reduce the flow of illegal crossings into the country.”

“In fact, this administration reversed many programs the past administration had in place that actually worked. The state of the border under the current administration is the worst I have seen in over 20 years. Sadly, Miss Jean-Pierre has no Idea what she is talking about,” Cabrera said.

The clear-as-day lie from Jean-Pierre came a few days after America’s cheery motivational speaker and Vice President Kamala Harris issued the same falsehood during an interview with Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” During the interview, Harris claimed that the country has “a secure [southern] border” and that “that is a priority for any nation, including ours and our administration.”

“I think there is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do, the first request we made: Pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship,” Harris said. “The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular, over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed.”
