Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre continually deflected questions regarding the FBI’s unprecedented raid on former president Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago in Tuesday’s press briefing.

Jean-Pierre only addressed the events that took place at Trump’s Florida home Monday evening after being questioned whether President Biden or anyone else at the White House was aware of the search warrant or if they were briefed in the aftermath. Jean-Pierre claimed ignorance, saying no one was aware of it.

She goes on to claim that Biden believes in “the rule of law, in the independence of the Justice Department investigations,” and that those investigations should be “free from political influence.” Such a statement contradicts the Justice Department’s cherry-picking of cases to pursue, such as labeling parents as “domestic terrorists” but not investigating the mounting evidence suggesting the Biden family’s business ties to China.

Peter Doocy of Fox News noted that Jean-Pierre and the Biden administration, who are usually vocal about their contempt towards the former president, were oddly silent on the events and asked if this means they consider him to be a political threat.

“Ehh, I don’t talk about Trump all the time,” Jean-Pierre said in a snarky response.

Doocy also noted that if the White House doesn’t provide more comment or explanation for the raid, Republican accusations of the weaponization of the Justice Department may become public sentiment.

Jean-Pierre not only refused to answer questions about the events at Mar-a-Lago from Doocy, but from the entire press corps. She replied to questions by saying she is “just not going to comment.”

Jean-Pierre’s unwillingness to answer any questions related to the raid, and her inability to even acknowledge concerns about the legitimacy of the Justice Department, denies the American people the transparency they desperately need at this time.
