Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib Demands Total Anarchy: ‘No More Policing’

Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib demanded anarchy Monday with the abolition of police and incarceration.

“Policing in our country is inherently & intentionally racist,” Tlaib wrote after a weekend police shooting in Minnesota that left a black man dead. “No more policing, incarceration, and militarization. It can’t be reformed.”

Tlaib, a member of the socialist “squad” in the lower chamber, labeled 20-year-old Daunte Wright’s death on Sunday in Brooklyn Center, Minn., “government funded murder” after police body camera footage was released Monday afternoon.

“Daunte Wright was met with aggression & violence,” Tlaib wrote.

The shooting, which took place 10 miles from where George Floyd died in Minneapolis Police custody, provoked renewed riots and looting in the Twin Cities.

Brooklyn Center Police Department Chief Tim Gannon told reporters Sunday Wright was pulled over for a traffic violation when officers discovered a warrant was out for Wright’s arrest. When Wright resisted with retreat into his car, an officer shot him.

“It is my belief that the officer had the intention to deploy their taser but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet,” Gannon said during a Monday news conference. “This appears to me, from what I viewed, and the officer’s reaction and distress immediately after, that this was an accidental discharge that resulted in a tragic death of Mr. Wright.”

The unidentified officer who shot Wright was put on administrative leave.

Derek Chauvin, the officer charged in George Floyd’s death from last summer, is currently on trial in Minnesota. The judge in the case denied a defense request to sequester the jury following the outbreak of unrest in the area amid the proceedings.
