During President Trump’s State of the Union address he introduced Venezuelan President Juan Guadio who was in attendance and welcomed in a rare moment of bipartisan support. Trump also denounced Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.
“Maduro is an illegitimate ruler, a tyrant who brutalized his people, but Maduro’s tyranny will be smashed and broken,” Trump said.
His comments were met with a bipartisan standing ovation of Guaido.

CNN didn’t receive the memo that Guaido has bipartisan support in the United States. Instead, they parroted the talking points of dictator Maduro. In CNN’s chyron, the network described Guaido as the “opposition leader” of Venezuela when Guadio is recognized as the legitimate President of Venezuela.
Sen. Rick Scott of Florida tweeted out CNN should be ashamed of themselves for parroting Maduro’s talking points.
“He’s the legitimate President of Venezuela. Full stop,” Scott tweeted.

On January 23, 2019, the National Assembly in Venezuela declared Guadio to be the president. He received formal recognition of his legitimacy by 59 governments worldwide. However, Maduro refuses to resign as President. The United States is among the 59 governments that recognize Guaido as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
CNN was not alone in their shameful labeling. The Washington Post also referred to Guaido as Venezuela’s “opposition leader.”
The mainstream media is calling Guaido the “opposition leader” because admitting Maduro has failed in Venezuela is also admitting socialism failed in Venezuela. Socialism led to an economic disaster for Venezuelan’s, causing food shortages and mass exodus. When the mainstream media finally admits Guaido is the legitimate leader of Venezuela, they will also be forced to cope with the fact that socialism epically failed and nearly destroyed an entire country.
