Following Thursday’s eight-hour hearing, Republican Sen. Jeff Flake announced he will vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“I left the hearing yesterday with as much doubt as certainty. What I do know is that our system of justice affords a presumption of innocence to the accused, absent corroborating evidence,” Flake said.

Flake is one of the Republican senators who was on the fence about whether he would vote in favor of Kavanaugh after the allegations of sexual assault came to light. His support is especially important, as he sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, which must vote to approve Kavanaugh today before the nomination can proceed to the rest of the Senate.
