Bachelorette Becca Kufrin Won’t Let The Mob Decide Who Her Man Should Be

Becca isn’t bowing to the haters. She’s repeatedly said she’s picking her man regardless of what the mob thinks and that actually getting to know someone outside of social media is an important part to any relationship.

It’s incredibly obvious who Bachelorette Becca Kufrin is going to pick in next week’s season finale episode. She’s going to pick Garrett — a man the collective Internet cannot stand because he’s liked offensive Instagram posts.

In last night’s fantasy suite episode, she sent Jason packing before they could spend a night together. Heartbroken, Jason later showed up at Becca’s hotel room in the night to give her a scrapbook memorializing all of their time together — all five weeks of it.

Going into their night in the fantasy suite, Garett knew Jason had gone home and that he and Blake (the other remaining contestant) were safe from elimination that week. That assurance probably made their night better, and I’m happy about it. It’s fun watching the two fall in love onscreen. They have had such a strong bond from the beginning, combined with the fact we know Becca gets engaged at the end, which makes this season unique.

But the Internet is not here for it. From Vulture:

Becca is clearly way into Garrett and without any redemptive arc on the show, we have no reason to like him. His internet activity leads us to believe that he’s a bigot or at the very least, thinks bigotry is funny. I don’t care how many bamboo rafts he deftly guides down a river in Thailand, I just don’t like him, ABC. Stop trying to make Garrett happen especially when we all can see Jason and Blake.

A big reason they’re #resisting Garrett is he reportedly liked Instagram posts that were anti-trans and one that made fun of Parkland students. I haven’t seen the posts he’s reportedly liked because he’s deleted that account and apologized for it. But apology isn’t enough. Once you’ve liked something “offensive” on Instagram, you can never move past it, according to the mob, because the Internet is forever.

You’d be hard-pressed to find an episode recap that didn’t mention Garrett’s Instagram history, but Becca isn’t bowing to the haters. She was recently hassled by a TMZ reporter who repeatedly asked her if Garrett was a “homophobe.” The entire time, Becca does her thing and TOTALLY IGNORES HIM. It’s awesome

She’s repeatedly said she’s picking her man regardless of what the mob thinks and that actually getting to know someone outside of his or her social media accounts is an important part to any relationship.

“I feel like I got a much better picture of who these 28 guys were, as opposed to just looking on their social media and trying to make a decision of who they were by not talking to them,” Becca said in a statement, according to Cosmo.

Becca, who is a liberal, according to former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, has said that it’s important to get to know people before judging their Instagram feeds.

“I think social media is a huge presence in our lives these days,” she said. “There’s no getting around that fact. It’s difficult for people to say certain things about any of these guys, and so I would really just hope that they watch the entire journey and get to know them for who they really are.”

You do you, Becca. Ignore the mob, whose only impulse is to dogpile on top of anyone who doesn’t affirm their ideology. Get to know someone for who they are, not for their Insta feeds.
