During an interview with HLN’s S.E. Cupp on Wednesday, Jesse Kelly said liberals claims to love the U.S. Constitution while simultaneously hating the rights it guarantees, which makes no sense.
In an article published by The Federalist, Kelly criticized a viral video in which veterans claim they love the Constitution, but want to do away with the Second Amendment right to bear arms. The Marine Corps combat veteran told Cupp this behavior is utterly nonsensical.
“The fact of the matter is liberals despise the Constitution,” Kelly said. “You can’t say that you love the Constitution while at the same time hating the rights that are enshrined in it.”
“Liberals claiming they love the Constitution is like me saying ‘I love my wife, but I hate her personality and I don’t like her face either,'” Kelly said. “It doesn’t work that way.”
“It really bothers me that veterans are out there trashing the rights they fought to protect,” he said.
