Last week The New York Times first reported that movie producer Harvey Weinstein has been buying the silence of women who accused him of sexual assault for decades. Subsequently, the story surrounding the movie mogul’s alleged misdeeds keeps getting worse.

Ronan Farrow followed it up with a nearly 8,000-word article published in The New Yorker on Tuesday detailing accounts of Weinstein’s alleged unwanted advances and aggressive behavior. Farrow, who has a contract with NBC, said the broadcast network turned down the story several months ago, saying it didn’t meet the company’s standards. NBC has since come under fire for this decision.

Many women have come forward with stories of Weinstein sexually harassing or assaulting them, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rosanna Arquette. In an Instagram post, actress Cara Delevigne said the former Miramax executive tried to force her to kiss another woman in his hotel room one night. When she left, he tried to kiss her on the lips.

Men of Hollywood have received blowback for staying quiet on the whole ordeal. Several big-name actors have released statements, including George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck — who has his own record of being inappropriate towards women. Hours after Affleck tweeted a statement condemning Weinstein’s actions, the “Good Will Hunting” actor tweeted an apology to Hilarie Burton, whose breast he grabbed in 2003 in an incident caught on camera. His brother, Casey Affleck, was accused of sexually harassing and physically assaulting two female co-workers while working on a film in 2010.

Weinstein, a major Democratic donor, was not condemned by Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama until five days after the allegations came to light. Both Clinton and Obama have received campaign donations from the movie mogul, CNN reported.

Weinstein was fired from his position at The Weinstein Company, which he co-founded, on Sunday after numerous allegations such as these came to light.
